Bethany was raised in Cedartown, Georgia, and attended Cedartown High School, graduating with honors. Following high school, she became a “Georgia Bulldog” attending The University of Georgia, where she earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology with a minor in Mass Communications. Bethany’s professional career began at St. Mary’s Hospital, where she worked for over 12 years. While working full-time at the hospital, Bethany worked after hours to earn her Master’s Degree in Health Administration with a specialty in geriatrics. Public service has always been important to Bethany, so she put her extensive experience to good use when elected to serve on the city council in Comer, Georgia. Serving the people was an honor for Bethany, passionately working to do the most good for the people of her community. That same passion led Bethany to pursue her dream of attending law school. Bethany graduated from Atlanta’s John Marshall Law School, receiving awards for her work as a Peer Mentor Director and a distinguished CALI Award in health care law. After law school, Bethany, her husband Brent, and their two children, Logan and Rileigh, moved to Jefferson to become a valued member of the Akin & Tate law team. Bethany enjoys watching Logan play football and coaching Rileigh’s cheerleading team. The entire Johnston family loves the Georgia Bulldogs!
